Our Values
Alvaston Juniors School - Derby and London are built on the strong foundation of the values shared by our teachers and staff:

We believe each child, no matter their background and personal traits, deserves the same amount of diligence, guidance, and passion from their teachers. At the end of the day, Alvaston Juniors School - Derby and London has one mission - to improve the life chances of our pupils. We take that as our moral obligation and do not see it as ending when the child leaves the school gates. Because of this, the Alvaston Juniors School - Derby and London has become an integral part of the local community and a positive driving force of change in the lives of our pupils.
Values in practice (newest first)
On 2 February 2026 Year 4 buddies welcomed three mid-term starters with labelled trays so belonging came before paperwork. In June 2024 staff trained on calm handovers when families arrive with half-unpacked rooms after a London transfer week. Through 2022 consistency meetings kept the same praise language across Derby and outreach sessions so children never felt like guests in their own school.
